Sprouting: Cucumber Cat Salad

Our cucumber seeds have finally poked their tiny heads out of their bed of soil.
They have been bathing in sunshine on the windowsill and getting a sprinkling of warm water once a day for the past week.

The visible change in the seedlings in 24 hours was amazing! We could hardly wait to see what the next 24-48 hours would bring.
Day 10 Afternoon

The cucumber sprouts had taken hold, and so it was time to transplant them to a larger container.



Pretty soon we would be able to plant them outside in our veggie box. I settled on the sunny couch for a little afternoon nap, beside the newly transplanted sprouts, and when I woke up they were almost ALL GONE!!! All of our hard work, vanished! The culprit, with a cucumber shoot still in her chops:


Alas, we are back to step 1, planting more cucumber seeds - this time with  a protective cloche on top!!
