Peapods & Scarlett Bean Blossoms

Our total pea pod count is now up to 6, with many more pea blossoms to go. We can hardly wait until the pods fatten up with yummy round peas.

The bean blossoms have finally opened, with the promise of many green beans on the way.

Now it's time for our yellow bush beans to catch up!

Time Lapse Photography

This is a fun post!  See how far our garden has come in  6 weeks: from construction to lettuce, peas and strawberries now on the vine and waiting to ripen in the summer sun!

Peas Please!

The garden has finally yielded its first veggie other than lettuce: peas! We have 2 English pea pods and about a dozen more blossoms. We can hardly wait until they are plump and full of the first peas of summer.

The strawberries are growing bigger, and the carrots continue to do well.

The beans have put out more scarlet blossoms.

Even the cucumbers seem to have taken hold, and are sending out their curly spires.

And finally, both rounds of pumpkin seeds have taken off and we have about 14 seedlings!! Hopefully we'll have some great jack o'lanterns this year! This more than makes up for the giant sunflower seedlings that were completely devoured by hungry slugs - Ugh!!

Up Close in the Yard

Not our veggie box, but the whole garden is bursting alive after the rains! So pretty to look at, here are just a few close up shots:

I just love the range of colors from chartreuse and emerald to pink, purple and the burgundy-red of the maples. The intense contrast is spectacular to gaze upon....
